Harrah’s: Florida’s Gamblers Taking More Trips

A report released by Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. claims that the state of Florida accounted for more gambling excursions than all but four states in 2005.

Placing fifth, Florida generated over 12 million gambling trips in 2005, easily surpassing their previous 11th place ranking last year.

New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas were the leaders in generated gambling trips.
The report also said that casino gamblers were more likely to have pursued a post secondary education and hold white-collar jobs than non-gamblers.

The median income of gamblers was also estimated to be $8,000 a year more than the national average. The median age and gender profiles, however, were reportedly on par with the national standard.

The report also stated that 25 percent of the 209 million adults in the country gambled at casinos. Those gamblers made 322 million visits-an average of 6.1 per gambler.
