Three Men Convicted in Hi-Tech Casino Scam

Three men were convicted and one was sentenced to nine months in jail for scamming casinos in England for more than $400,000.

Yau Yiu Lam, 45, was sent to jail immediately for nine months. His accomplices, Bit Chai Wong, 39, and Fan Leung, 41, were given suspended sentences of nine months each, according to reports. All three men were ordered to perform 150 hours of community service and pay fines of $10,800.

The Met Police’s Gaming Unit received a call from one casino that suspected the men of cheating. It turned out that they were using sophisticated micro-cameras to spy on unsuspecting players during poker games, the report said. The images were beamed to a computer monitoring the video, and the men at the table received instructions through concealed earpieces, officials said. The scam is believed to have involved up to six different London casinos.
